Web24 apr 2005 · Your gas mileage might drop slightly because it is going to take a little more time to takeoff, especially since your auto. If you tow it might be a little more difficult but not impossible. My TJ is 4.0, 5 speed, 3.55, and runs really good on 31's. I usually get about 17-18mpg, and still have enough power to pull stuff. The power at lower speeds is good (3.55 gears), but on steep hills at highway speeds more gear would be really helpful. If you're definately going to stay on 31's, 4:10 gears should be about perfect.

It is not the brakes because I have changed those out and applying the brakes don't affect the sound. It sounds like 2 pieces of metal being rubbed together. WebBored throttle body. If you can park the jeep for a week or so, you can mail in your throttle body to a guy on ebay who will through-bore your throttle body to 62mm. This makes such a big difference for $50. I recommend this to everybody with an XJ. Lower control arm skids, T-case skid, gas tank skid. cheap insurance. ZJ Steering.
