WebLutheranism is a movement within Christianity that began with the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century. It rejects papal and ecclesiastical authority in favour of the Bible, affirms five of the traditional seven sacraments, and insists that human reconciliation with God is effected by divine grace alone, appropriated solely by faith. Lutherans accept the three great ancient creeds of the church—the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicean Creed, and the Athanasian Creed. The beliefs of Lutheranism were set out in the Augsburg Confession in 1530.
