The battery could have the correct voltage but not have enough charge to run the starter If you replace the battery and the crank is still slow Do not be too quick to blame the starter Webb7 apr. 2011 · The slow crank only does it when hot. if I leave the car for 20min. no problem. I have replace battery, starter, 1" spacer plate for the carburetor to minimize heat soaked. heat shield wraps for the starter as well. when it does start it only take one crank. any idea? would base timing or total timing have to do with it?

Webb10 juni 2024 · The only time I had the same problem with slow cranking with a diesel car engine, I connected two fully charged batteries in parallel and it did not make any noticeable difference and the engine was still too slow to start. It turned out that the head gasket had failed and hydrolocked a couple of cylinders. Webb27 maj 2024 · Slow cranking is usually either failing starter, poor battery or failing connections (corroded cables connections etc) you can gauge the effort required to turn the engine by removing the spark plugs and turning by hand, shouldn't be that hard with a long spanner on the crank pulley.
