WebSep 24, 2013 · Cam is waaaay off. Look at the arrow in the cam gear. That lines up with the dowel and the dot on the tooth. You have a 5.7, you can unbolt the oil pump and slide it off the crank. Then line up the single blue link to 12 o'clock centered on the cam gear dot and the double blue link at 6 centered on the crank gear dot. WebIf the cam is in 180 degrees out, all you have to do is to install the distributor 180 degrees out also, to compensate for it. As long as you have the valves, on #1 cylinder at TDC, with no clearance between the rockers and valves and the rotor pointing to #1 terminal, on the distributor cap, the engine should at least fire. Rmember the Ignition timing is several degrees befor TDC. So set the crankshaft a bout 1/2" after the Ign timing mark and then try to align the camshaft timing mark as you put the chain on.
